Most people should have eye exams once a year. But eyesight can change dramatically over the course of year, especially if you are over the age of 50. Here are some signs you need an eye exam more often!

Signs for an Eye Exam

  • Eyes become red, itchy or dry
  • You see floaters or flashes of light
  • You have diabetes or Glaucoma or a family history of them
  • Its been more than a year since your last exam
  • You have difficulty seeing in the dark or at night when you are driving
  • You experience eyestrain, blurred vision or headaches after computer time
  • You have difficulty following moving targets
  • You hold reading materials closer or further away than normal in order to read
  • You notice vision changes after a head trauma

Be sure to get your eyes examined yearly, unless you experience any of the signs above in which case you should schedule an appointment immediately. And remember your eye doctor can detect a wide variety of diseases, like diabetes, just by looking at your eyes.
